(A Poetic Reflection)
He stayed, he never strayed, not once did he roam,
But loyalty alone doesn't make love feel like home.
She spoke in feelings, he replied in facts,
Her heart cried out, but he missed the cracks.
A short “hmm,” a “sure,” and silence between—
She heard the quiet, not the care unseen.
He loved her, yes, in his silent way,
Did everything for her, yet had nothing to say.
No "I love you," no verbal embrace,
She felt unseen in that loving space.
She craved his warmth, not just plans and flight,
He booked a trip—she just wanted him that night.
Presents in hand, presence in lack,
He brought her the world, but never looked back.
He thought love was obvious, no need to repeat,
Forgot the “I miss you’s,” the small, soft treats.
She ached for the touch in everyday things,
But he gave her silence, not what love brings.
He needed space to gather his mind,
She saw the silence, thought he was unkind.
He retreated to think, not to depart,
But she packed her love and guarded her heart.
She hinted, she smiled, she longed for the call,
He missed the message—he caught none at all.
She missed the nights of talking till two,
He thought, “We’re fine,” but she withdrew.
He grew too safe, too sure, too still,
Forgot the thrill, the chase, the will.
She missed the man who once tried so hard,
Now all she held was a loyalty card.
He said, "But I never lied, I never left."
She said, “You stayed, but you weren’t fully present.”
She needed a bond, not just the vow—
A heart that listens, not just allows.
He said “sorry” like it fixed the wound,
But change never came, and the ache resumed.
She wanted growth, not words on repeat,
But he walked circles with loyal feet.
He gave what he knew, with all his might,
But love isn’t love till both feel it right.
He thought being there was the ultimate act,
But she needed more—connection, intact.
In the end, he was faithful, he truly was true,
But love unspoken slowly withdrew.
And though he stayed, he still lost her flame—
Because love without effort is loyalty by name.
